Income Report – August 2022

August was a great month all around!

Traffic was up, impressions were up, commissions were up, and ad revenue was up.

I’ve been working on various design optimizations and content upgrades, so it is good to see some positive results.

After being hit, at least mildly from a few of the previous algorithm updates, it was nice to get some of those losses back and even start building from where I got hit.

August Statistics

In August, the Affiliate site keeps climbing back regarding page views, impressions, and income. This is a big relief as I really was not sure what was going to happen. I did do a site re-design and have been working my way through a lot of old content, but my hunch is that most of the change is just Google re-balancing it algorithm.

Total income for this site came in at $750 which is way down on where we were over the new year, but a big step up from July which was alarming.

Ad revenue is roughly the same, so affiliate revenue bounce back contributed to most of the improvement.

In one of the recent updates, I lost lots of ground in the SERPs on a few of my important income-generating money pages. So my focus has been working very hard to try and fight back in the SERPs on some specific products, and I have been having some success. I published some new content for the first time in a long time, and this was mostly building up a content silo to support a money page, and the results are p[romising so far.

September Activity

September has been busy and will be increasingly busy as I’m fighting back with my affiliate site. I have chosen one particular content silo to focus on, and have been building out in accordance with the Affiliate Site Freedom method with very promising results.

I’ve used a new widget to support my product tables and really happy with how they turned out.

Throughout this month I’ll keep perfecting that silo, perfecting the content, and doing a site-wide audit to try and fix any technical issue I come can sort out, just in case that is contributing to things.

My Ezoic ad revenue is bouncing back as well, given

Entertainment Site

Site Recap

Ads site, in ‘Entertainment’ niche – established in January 2021. Monetized with Ezoic advertising.

Approx 220k words of content over 230+ posts.

August Statistics

August was a positive month for this site, with impressions, page views, and income all at all-time highs.

Page views were back hit 7500 and income from the Ezoic ads exceeded its previous all-time high hitting $76.22.

I didn’t get a chance to publish any new content in August as my writer was on a break. However, they are back now so we can carry on from this month forward.

The site had a general UI upgrade, so is a lot more pleasing to the eye. I’ll monitor any downsides in terms of performance, or any upsides in terms of time on page, but overall I am not sure it will make a huge amount of difference.

EPMVs have continued to go in the right direction, at their highest level, going against the current industry trend.

September Activity

There will be a few new articles published this month, but it won’t be a massive month in terms of content published. I have been working on other aspects of the site, added a stack of images, and removed some plugins that weren’t necessary.

Im changing the way I have my Ezoic placeholders inserted, now leaving it totally up to Ezoic, so will be interesting to see if that has any impact on revenue.

Im also trying to book a meeting with Ezoic to have a full site review and see if they notice any issues or potential improvements I could make.

Lastly, I’m also trying to improve my interlinking, using Link Whisper, so plan to focus on that going forward as well.

In all has been a pretty productive month so far (for a part-timer), so am looking forward to what the results might be.
